1% Well Read Challenge

Again another challenge that I did in 2009. I didn't complete this one but I did pretty well with it.

The goal of this challenge is to read 13 books in 13 months from the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die combined list. The challenge official runs from April 1, 2010 through April 31, 2011.

I have decided to do this challenge a little different. I am still working with the 1001 BYMRBYD list from 2008. I also only plan to read 10 books. I will read more if time premits.

Planned Books:

The Color Purple By Alice Walker
Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift
Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra
Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe
Emma by Jane Austen
Native Son by Richard Wright
Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desia

TBR Challenge 2011

I completed the TBR Challenge in 2009 and enjoyed it very much. So, I decided to do another round.

What is the TBR Challenge?

** Pick 12 books – one for each month of the year - that you’ve been wanting to read (that have been on your “To Be Read” list) for 6 months or longer, but haven’t gotten around to.

** OPTIONAL: Create a list of 12 “Alternates” (books you could substitute for your challenge books, given that a particular one doesn’t grab you at the time)

** Then, starting January 1, read one of these books from your list each month, ending December 31. )

Planned Books:

Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift
The Witching Hour by Ann Rice
Coffee Will Make You Black by April Sinclair
Ain't Gonna Be The Same Fool Twice by April Sinclair
Freshwater Road by Denise Nicholas
The Color of Family by Patrica Jones
The Hand That's Dealt by Rosalind Coats
The Fifth Vial by Michael Palmer
The Warmest December by Bernice L. McFadden
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
The Subtle Knife by Philip Pulman

Alternates: (9 with room to put 3 more)

The Amber Spy Glass by Philip Pulman
26a by Diana Evens
Memiors of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
The King of Colored Town by Darryl Wimberley
The Isis Papers: The Keys To The Color by Frances Cress Welsing

It's Been So Long

I really cannot believe that it has been over a year since I have written anything for this blog. This year has been busy, when it started I had plans to continue with my reading challenges and get loads of books read this year.

I completely failed.

I got a job and really found it hard to want to read after a hard days work. When I did get the time, I only wanted to do light reading. Mostly romances and a little paranormal. Nothing major and nothing big.

I miss it. I can't believe how much I miss reading.

I plan to fix this problem by next year. I am going to enter reading challenges and find the time. Maybe for an hour or so before work.

I really don't know yet but I will make it work.
