There have been a lot of end of the year review post popping up in my RSS Feed.  I am going to openly admit that I have been a bit envious.  When I see all the books that others read, my little puny number is quite depressing.  Then there are those readers/bloggers that make graphs about the books that they have read.  The geek in me gets excited and I think "why didn't I do that?"  So this year, I promise myself that I will keep better records so I can open up my spreadsheet (did I mention that I love spreadsheets) and create cool graphs.

What Happened Last Week:
  • Monday: End Of Year Review - Where I show how I completely failed in 2012
  • Tuesday: Three teaser sentences from  Little Bee by Chris Cleave - Which I am really enjoying right now.
  • Wednesday:  Goals for the New Year - I blast the site with different challenges that I signed up for an my goals. (the link is to the main post)
  • Friday:  I showed off the cookbooks that I had discovered while reading other peoples blogs.
What's Happening This Week:
  • Monday:  Start of Bout of Books Read-A-Thon (I will have only on master post)
  • Tuesday: Teaser Tuesday from The Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man by James Weldon Johnson
  • Wednesday: Wondrous Word Wednesday - Words that I had to look up while read Little Bee by Chris Cleave
  • Thursday:  Review of Little Bee
  • Friday:  Weekly Friday Finds Meme
  • Saturday: Weekly Stacking The Shelves Meme (which I completely forgot to do this week).

So, there are only two days to go and 2012 will official be over.  I love the start of a New Year, it is so full of possibilities and a prefect time to plan.

Over the next couple of days, I will be wrapping up 2012 on this blog and planning for the upcoming New Year.

One of the things that I am most excited about (regarding this blog), if changing my rating system.  I have been using a star system since I started this blog years ago and have always been dissatisfied with it.  The only reason that I have continued to use it is because it is easier to translate my ratings to the various sites that I review on.   I am not going to worry about that starting in 2013.

While I am not going to stop review on other sites, for The Little Reading Nook.  I am going to start giving letter grades.  For some reason, I think letter grades will be more reflective for how I feel about a book.  And now that I review there elements of each book (plot, character, and writing) I can give grades for each element separately and an overall grade.

What Happened Last Week (light week):
What's Happening This Week:
  • Monday: Review of  The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore
  • Teaser Tuesday:  A quote from Little Bee by Chris Cleave  and a bunch of post about challenges.
  • Wednesday: Wondrous Word Wednesday
  • Thursday:  Booking Thur Thursday
  • Friday:  Weekly book finds
  • Saturday:  New Books

Where Have I Been?

I sort of hit a blogging slump.  It's much like a reading slump, but instead of not wanting to read I didn't want to blog.  I had things to blog about and I did read books.  But I didn't want to blog about them.

The good news is that I now have a little room to pre-schedule reviews and will have like a three week advantage.

The bad news is that I have decided to abandon a book.  The first one this year, The Fifth Vial by Michael Palmer.  I will post a full run down about why I decided to throw in the towel latter today.

What's Happening This Week:
  • Sunday:  20% Rule -why I did not finish The Fifth Vial
  • Monday:  I will be interviewing author Eugenia O'Neal (my first author interview).  I really hope you stop by and read the interview Eugenia is a really nice person and her interview is full of information.
  • Tuesday:  Teaser Tuesday  featuring I'm Only Human After All by Alex Rogers
  • Wednesday:  Review of Jessamine by Eugenia O'Neal.
  • Friday: Friday Finds
  • Saturday: Stacking The Shelves
GiveAway:

  • Win 1 copy of Jessamine by Eugenia O'Neal.  Entry rules and details are on the GiveAway page.

This has to be the first time in a long time where I have had a post scheduled for every day in a week.  I don't know how people do it, it's exhausting.

This week has been a bit of a bomb.  I didn't read any of the books that I wanted to read.  Maybe I am suffering from reading exhaustion.  Is there such a thing?

This is my first time participating in this meme.  Normally I would do Sunday Salon, but I thought it was a time to try something new.

What Happened Last Week:

  • Wicked Wildfire Read-a-Thon (June 20 - June 24) - There is still one more day left on this RAT.  It has been a great opportunity for me to catch up on some reading.  Since I am still trying to read the books I had planned to read in April.  I'm so far behind.
  • Friday Finds:  I added 11 more books to Mt. TBR  which brought the total number of books on my official Goodreads to read list to 265 on friday.  Way to many.
  • Reviewed:  On Friday, I finished my review of  Oxford Messed Up: by Andrea Kayne Kaufman.
  • Stacking The Shelves: I added two more books to Mt. TBR and purchased A Tree Grow in Brooklyn, which has been sitting on the mountain for some time now.  Mt. TBR is officially 267 books strong.
What's Happening This Week:
  • GiveAway:  This week I'm holding my first giveaway for 2012.  I am giving away my copy of Oxford Messed Up: by Andrea Kayne Kaufman.  The giveaway only last one week, from June 24 until July 1st.  You can enter here.
  • Reviews:  My review of One Blood by Qwantu Amaru should be done by Monday.
  • Teaser Tuesday:  This Tuesday's teasers will be from The Keepers of the House by Shirley Ann Grau.  Thanks to NetGalley.
  • If I am lucky *crosses fingers*  I can start Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout by the end of the week but that all depends on The Keepers of the House.
Don't forget to enter the giveaway.
