I knew that Christians were persecuted during the Holocaust, but I do not know any details. Likewise, I also know that people were expericment on including twins, but I do not know the details either. Because of your book review (that I read on Shelfari), this book will be in a prominent spot on my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteI think my Holocaust history was not adequate enough. I just sort of figured that Christians in areas that the Nazis occupied were sort of left in a police like state. With restriction but left to sort of just go on with life.
ReplyDeleteI never realized that they were sent to work camps. If figured that the ones that help or showed sympathy for Jews were sent to concentration camps, killed or imprisoned but the rest is new to me.
Christians were persecuted just like the Jews. However if I remember correctly Soviet POWs were given less food. They usually were not allowed to stay with other prisoners and sometimes they were given no shelter. It has been a while since I studied up on this so I am not sure how correct I am.
ReplyDeletePlease sign me up - it looks like a wonderful read!
ReplyDeleteI dont know a lot about your question but I would love to find out more!
Please enter me - this is one Holocaust memoir I haven't read yet.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question - I have an extensive Holocaust library and have read quite a bit about individuals' experiences, but have not come across anything about the treatment of Christian prisoners.
I would love to read this book!! Please sign me up.
ReplyDeleteAlso is this giveaway open only for US residents? I am based out of Bangalore(India)
My father fought in WWII and never talked about what he saw but he was there at one of the concentration camps soon after liberation. My grandfather came from Poland and I know that there were no doubt distant relatives who suffered during this time. I have not read much on holocaust, not yet. Please count me in on this giveaway. Thanks : D

This sounds like a good book.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard anything about the treatment of Christians during the Holocaust. Hitler was very for an Aryan nation and that included Christianity as their religion. I know Catholics were heavily persecuted, almost as much as the Jews. Catholicism and Christianity are usually held apart from each other.
I would love to be included in your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThanks

I didn't even know that Catholics were persecuted. I find it interesting that Catholicism and Christianity are also seen as separate. Instead of a Catholicism begin a sub-genre of Christianity.
ReplyDeleteI was very aware of the persecution of the Jews and the gypsies and Hungarians, and even acutely aware of the persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses, since I work in an office that is predominantly JW, but don't recall hearing about the persecution of Christians.
ReplyDeletePlease count me in!

ETA. IN USA, was the Holocaust?
ReplyDeleteI would love to be entered to the giveaway. I knew that there many "righteous" gentiles who put themselves and their families at risk by hiding Jews, gypsies and Poles among others. I am very interested in finding out more about the persecuted Christians. My grandfather told me when I was 9 that we can't forget or it will happen again. I have never forgotten.
